The Hidden Word Game for Frum Families

THE MISSION

Uncover your Remazim before the other team uncovers theirs!
All around us are Remazim — hidden hints and connections — just waiting to
be revealed. In this game, your job is to work together to find the right words
on the board using clever clues… without stumbling into the Yetzer Hara —
the hidden trap word that knocks your team out!

SETUP

Divide into two teams: Gold Team and Navy Team.
Randomly lay out 25 word cards in a 5×5 grid.
Each team chooses one Remez Giver — the person who gives hints.
The other players are the guessers and should sit together, opposite the Remez
Givers.
The Remez Giver from each team sit near each other in order to view the single
Key Card — a grid showing which words belong to each team, which are neutral,
and which is the Yetzer Hara.

WHO GOES FIRST

The grid key card for each round shows which team goes first.
If the grid card has a gold border, the Gold Team goes first and has 9 words to
find — while the Navy Team has only 8.
The team that goes first always has one extra word to guess.

GAMEPLAY

On your turn, your team’s Remez Giver gives a one-word hint, followed by
a number, indicating how many words on the board connect to that hint.
“Pesach — 2” (Meaning, two of your team’s words relate to
Pesach.)
Your team discusses and guesses words one at a time. In order
to finalize your guess, you must tap the card you are choosing.

Clues must be relevant to the meaning of the word and cannot be:

IMPORTANT

The Remez Givers must keep a straight face! If they react during guessing — whether they’re nervous, frustrated, or trying to help — it can completely ruin the game. Staying neutral is part of the challenge

WINNING

First team to successfully identify all their words wins. Get ready to crack the Remez... if you can avoid the traps along the way!

VARIATION FOR TWO PLAYERS:

Only two players? No problem! In this cooperative version of Remez, both players are on the same team. Your goal is simple: work together to get the highest score you can against a simulated opponent.

How To Play

HOW TO PLAY:

1.  Set up the board as usual. One player acts as the Remez Giver, and the
other is the Word Guesser.
The opposing team has no actual players, but you’ll still use their team’s card
stack.
2.  Start the game. Choose a Key Card at random to determine which team
goes first.
3.  Play cooperatively. Take turns guessing as usual, avoiding the other team’s
words and especially the Yetzer Hara.
4.  After your team finishes a turn, the Remez Giver removes one card from
the opponent’s stack and covers one of their words. They may choose
which word to cover—so there’s some strategy in the process!
5.  Losing conditions:
   • If your team selects the Yetzer Hara.
   • Or if all of the opponent’s words are removed (meaning they “won”
before you did), your team loses. No score is recorded.
6.  Winning and Scoring:
If your team successfully identifies all your team’s words first, congratulations!
Give yourselves a score based on how many words the opponent had left when
you finished
